Sometimes in football there are more questions than answers.
Why were we all so quiet last night? Why did our play lack cohesion? Why did we try to play a high line against such a pacey attack?
The Super Vets ageing striker was the answer to the question, 'what do you get if you cross Victor Meldrew with the Terminator?'
I've just had a look at the footage that Neill R took last night. All i can say is hats off to coach09 for perservering to the end. I know Neill is a fan of horror films but really!
At one point Luke asked.. 'what the fuck was that?' when I passed the ball to no-one instead of playing a simple pass to Steve. Luke, to be honest , i've got no idea what the fuck that was.
There was plenty of good stuff too though - another excellent performance from Perre and more signs of good things to come from Dean and Little Joe. Brilliant to see Hairy Cornflake back in action with a typically passionate performance. Mes did well to slot in at centre back in the second half. Everyone tried hard and we stuck together till the end but nothing came off.
Things might have been different if i hadn't missed from point-blank range after Little Joe served up a great chance with a pin point cross late on - Caviar to pigs i'm afraid.
As i drove back down the A2 last night my head was full of questions... why did i lose my temper with their no 10?, will we bounce back next week?, why am i listening to Michael Buble on Heart FM?, why have i eaten the chocolate i just bought for Mrs Elbows? Sometimes there are no answers.
The great thing about football is that we can do it all again next week, only properly this time.
When i feel a bit stronger i'll put together a highlights package, but For now , here's Dean
converting our second half penalty.

Hmm, note one of the Super Vets shouting "You've got it 'keeper, you've got it" during Deano's run up. Illegal or not, hardly in the spirit of a friendly and pretty indicative of some of their players' attitudes and actions.
Got a phone call from Luis last night at about 9.55.
Luis. " Hello mate it's 1-1. It's been a good game..ooh! oh! we're going to score...ahhhhhhfackinelll!!... ohhh! ....it's still 1-1'
Wish i could have been there.
